The Microbiology Lab supports ARTIBAL´s developments/quality control assessment for both active packaging and biocide materials either for food or surface preservation.

Dra. Cristina Sánchez, Head of the Microbiology Lab, holds a Ph. D. in Analytical Chemistry from Stockholm’s  University and has more than six years’ experience in microbiological testing, as supported by a number of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

The Lab equipment, purchased in years 2008 and 2009, include:

• Biological Safety Cabinet, Class II Type A2 from ESCO,
• Microbiological Incubator model KB53 from BINDER,
• Homogenizer Stomacher-400 from COMECTA,
• Two domestic fridges from FAGOR,
• Ultra-freezer  -86ºC model MDF-U32V from SANYO
• and more...

Equipment also includes a complete set of collection strains purchased from the Spanish Collection of Type Strains. The set includes the more relevant food-related microorganisms.
